Wildflower Wednesday. These vivid asters flourish Wildflower Wednesday. These vivid asters flourish in late summer and early fall here in the southern Rockies. The identity of this is a bit of a puzzle - my usually reliable wildflower guide shows a very pallid specimen as a “ purple aster”, machaeranthera bigelovii, which is difficult to reconcile with this beauty.
