SUMMARY:Honoring Nature in the Southwest with our Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Featured Speaker: \nPanayoti Kelaidis\, Horticulturist with the Denver er Botanical Garden. \n“Gardening is giving back to nature- you can not replace nature\, but you can honor it” says Panayoti Kelaidis\, a lifelong Colorado gardener who has worked at the Denver er Botanical Gardens (DBG) for more than 40 years. Currently\, he is the Senior Curator and Director of Outreach for the DBG. He is known for his expertise in gardening in the Southwest. Panayoti is also known as the hero of Southwestern Horticulture. He will be giving a spirited talk about successfully gardening and honoring nature in our Southwest gardens. \n\n\nTickets will go on sale on August 1st!

DESCRIPTION:Featured Speaker: \nJackie Flor\, Horticulturist of Getty Grounds & Gardens will speak about the Artist\, Robert Irwin who designed the garden. \nRobert Irwin was an American installation artist who explored perception in his landscape installation projects. His site-specific projects focused on the elements of light and space\, designing “rooms” within gardens. His designs permitted continuous exploration and changes in perception by the viewer and the artist. Plants were the design materials\, creating an interplay with light\, color and reflection. \n\n\nTickets on sale until September 28th! Ticket prices includes a box lunch with the choice of three different entrées: Citrus Salmon\, Grilled Portobello\, or Curried Chicken Salad. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a festive “Chair-ity “event to celebrate a Santa Fe treasure: Amelia White. She helped many Santa Fe institutions get their start by gifts of land. Two “Baltimore Chairs” will be raffled to a lucky ticket holder. The chairs were owned by Amelia White and were donated  to the Santa Fe Garden Club to raise funds for the renovation of the Amelia White Park located on Old Santa Fe Trail. Signature cocktails such as an “Amelia-tini”  or an “El Delirio” will be served and well as delicious hors D’oeuvres.

SUMMARY:The rededication of the Amelia White Park
DESCRIPTION:The Santa Fe Garden Club\, in conjunction with the Garden Club of America’s attention to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Frederick Law Olmsted\, has worked with the Parks Department of Santa Fe as well as other organizations to refresh a wonderful city park. \nThe Mayor will be in attendance as well a member of the City Council\, and other representatives from the community. The re-dedication will take place at 10 AM. Families are invited to come\, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the garden. There will be a “Pet Promenade”\, and people are asked to contact the Garden Club if they would like their pet included in this event. \nThere will be community organizations present with information on gardening using drought tolerant plants.
